Case Studies Number Ten--subway.com:Navigation

There are two navigation systems on the home page. The primary navigation contains the majority of section names and they are organized into labels in the navigation. The secondary only has one link which is the home label.

The hierarchy among the navigation systems is very apparent since the primary navigation looks more prominent than the secondary. The primary navigation system has a dark red background and is positioned at the top of the page. The secondary navigation only has a colored link which is not quite eye-catching. The reason that the primary looks more prominent is it lists all the sections which users are more interested in than the one link navigation (the secondary).

Additional navigation systems appear once I get to further levels of the site. They are mainly side navigation systems which provide users more information about the section. I can tell they are navigation systems because they have list of links that represent sub sections.

Once I click on one of the navigation links, the look of the link does not change. I am not always know where I am since the headlines on each section are not clear. However, I always know how to go back to the home page since there is a home link right below the primary navigation system.
