Case Studies Number Five--msn.com:Color Palette

There are three main colors in the home page: blue, red and white. Blue is used for links and headlines. Furthermore, blue is the main background color on home page. Red is assigned for text that needs users attention, such as advertisement and news titles. White is for spacing and links that are over colored banners.

I think these colors are chosen because of the MSN logo. The reason is that MSN is a website that belongs to Microsoft. Most of Microsoft's products use blue for their main theme. As a site that is part of Microsoft, it should follow the main color theme of its company. Red is always used as a "attention" tool on website to catch users' eyes. White is the default color that designers use if they want their sites to look organized (more spacing).
